DCA receives scholarship funds for art programs
CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester Center of the Arts has been granted scholarships totaling $4,500 for its summer art programs for children from the MidShore Community Foundation’s George B. Todd Fund. These scholarships are available to Dorchester County children who wish to participate in summer art classes at DCA.
“We recognize that in Dorchester County economic constraints can prevent parents from enrolling their children in the arts,” said Mickey Love, DCA Executive Director. “With this tremendous generosity of funds, that obstacle is eliminated, and we are truly grateful for the support of the George B. Todd Fund. We encourage parents to submit a scholarship application for their children.”
DCA summer programs begin Monday, June 20, and run through Aug. 12 with themed week-long classes, which are designed based on age and according to attention span, hand size and manual dexterity. These programs are instructed by professional artists, and participants will learn new art-making skills, techniques and methods to encourage self-expression, creativity and collaboration.
