Au­drey D. John­son, 92, of Cam­bridge passed away on Sun­day, June 19, 201,6 at Mal­lard Bay Care Cen­ter. She was born in Wool­ford on March 2, 1924, and was a daugh­ter of the late Harry Lee Hig­gins and Ida Moore Hig­gins.

Mrs. John­son grad­u­ated from Cam­bridge High School. On Septem­ber 20, 1947, she mar­ried Robert Steele John­son, who passed away on Au­gust 14, 1989. In 1943, she worked for the de­fense plant dur­ing WWII. Later, she worked at a lo­cal shirt fac­tory and 35 years at Air­pax plus a full time farm­ers wife. Mrs. John­son en­joyed be­ing on the wa­ter, go­ing fishing, crab­bing, gar­den­ing, watch­ing sports and be­ing with her grand­chil­dren. When she was in her 80’s, she went jet ski­ing, power sail­ing and drove a soap box derby car. Mrs. John­son was a mem­ber of Friend­ship United Methodist Church where she was very ac­tive.

She is sur­vived by two sons, Ron­ald S. John­son and wife Con­nie of Cam­bridge and Lawrence A. John­son and wife Bar­bara of Fed­er­als­burg; two grand­chil­dren, Sherry Hitch­cock and Dawn Ramey and hus­band Doug; three great­grand­chil­dren Douglas Ramey III, Jes­sica Ramey and Riley Hitch­cock; a brother, J. Ward Hig­gins of Hur­lock. Be­sides her par­ents and hus­band, Mrs. John­son is pre­ceded in death by a sis­ter, Dorothy Du­ni­vin; five brothers, Mer­ritt Hig­gins, Wil­liam Hig­gins, Harry J. Hig­gins, Richard Hig­gins and Mil­ton Hig­gins; and a great­grand­daugh­ter, Syd­ney Hitch­cock.

Pall­bear­ers will be Doug Ramey, Jr., Doug Ramey III, Danny Hig­gins, Dale Price, Rusty Eberspacher, and Randy John­son. Honorary pall­bearer will be Jimmy Du­ni­vin, Jr.

A funeral ser­vice will be held on Thurs­day, June 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cam­bridge with Rev. Mary Ann Far­nell of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at East New Mar­ket Ceme­tery. Family will re­ceive friends on Wed­nes­day even­ing 6 to 8 and one hour prior to the ser­vice. In lieu of flow­ers, memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions can be made to Friend­ship United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cam­bridge, MD 21613.
