Cam­bridge host­ing Fourth of July Events

CAM­BRIDGE — Cel­e­brate In­de­pen­dence Day Mon­day, July 4, in Cam­bridge as the city plays host to sev­eral events, in­clud­ing a con­cert and fire­works along the Chop­tank River wa­ter­front.

The Cam­bridge fire­works will be­gin at dusk Mon­day, July 4, with view­ing lo­ca­tions at Long Wharf Park, Great Marsh Park and Sail­winds Park.

At 8 a.m. July 4, the fourth an­nual Fire­cracker Kids’ Triathlon will be held at the Dorch­ester Fam­ily YMCA. The event, or­ga­nized by Cam­bridge Multi-Sport, will chal­lenge chil­dren, ages 6 to

12, to com­plete a swim, bike and run event in a sup­port­ive and mo­ti­vat­ing com­mu­nity en­vi­ron­ment.

All pro­ceeds from the event will go to the YMCA. Each par­tic­i­pant will re­ceive a fin­isher medal and a T-shirt. Awards will be is­sued to the top boy and girl fin­ish­ers in each age group. For more in­for­ma­tion, visit­bridge­mul­ti­sport.word­

The Cam­bridge Sail and Power Squadron will host a boat pa­rade on the Chop­tank River at 11:45 a.m. It starts at the mid-span of the Malkus Bridge. The pa­rade can be viewed from Long Wharf Park or the docks near the Chop­tank River Light­house. Dorch­ester’s skip­jack, Nathan of Dorch­ester, will be the lead boat in the pa­rade. The Mid-Shore Com­mu­nity Band will hold its an­nual Fourth of July con­cert at 7 p.m. Mon­day, July 4, at Sail­winds Park in Cam­bridge. In the event of rain, the event will be held in the Gov­er­nor’s Hall at Sail­winds.

The band will per­form pa­tri­otic se­lec­tions and will be con­ducted by EJ Oesterle. Fire­works will fol­low. Wine, beer and so­das, as well as hot dogs and ham­burg­ers, will be avail­able for pur­chase. The con­cert is free and open to the pub­lic, with do­na­tions ac­cepted.

Bring your lawn chairs for the con­cert along the Chop­tank River wa­ter­front and will be in view­ing of the fire­works.
