DCPS teachers complete James Madison Legacy Project
CAMBRIDGE — Social Studies teachers from both North Dorchester and Cambridge-South Dorchester high schools have completed the James Madison Legacy Project.
The project was completed by Jessica Payne of NDHS and Dr. Laurie Barnes of C-SDHS. It is part of a nationwide professional development program directed by the Center for Civic Education, a nonprofit educational organization that was awarded a federal grant under the U.S. Department of Education Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant program.
Features of the program include rich academic content, mastery of teaching methods to help students become competent and responsible participants in their communities and the nation as a whole, and teacher institutes and workshops focused on a curriculum based on the principles of the U.S. Constitution.
