Phillip J. Stovall
EAST NEW MARKET — Phillip J. Stovall, 92, of East New Market passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Waycross, Ga., on Oct. 5, 1923, and was a son of the late William B. and Adele Johnson Stovall.
He graduated from Waycross, Ga. On Jan. 14, 1967, he married the former Sarah Koehler. Mr. Stovall served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked at Waverly Press in Easton. Mr. Stovall enjoyed fishing, hunting, model airplane and woodworking. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston and the Air Modelers Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Stovall of East New Market; a son, Phillip C. Stovall and wife Kathy of St. Michaels; a stepdaughter, Karen Gibbons-Neff of Vienna; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mr. Stovall is preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Carol Messick.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, near Hurlock with Rev. Thomas Becker officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home P.A. in Cambridge.
