EAST NEW MAR­KET — Phillip J. Sto­vall, 92, of East New Mar­ket passed away on Thurs­day, July 14, 2016, at Mal­lard Bay Care Cen­ter. He was born in Way­cross, Ga., on Oct. 5, 1923, and was a son of the late Wil­liam B. and Adele John­son Sto­vall.

He grad­u­ated from Way­cross, Ga. On Jan. 14, 1967, he mar­ried the for­mer Sarah Koehler. Mr. Sto­vall served in the U.S. Navy dur­ing WWII. He worked at Waverly Press in Eas­ton. Mr. Sto­vall en­joyed fish­ing, hunt­ing, model air­plane and wood­work­ing. He was a mem­ber of Im­manuel Lutheran Church in Pre­ston and the Air Model­ers Club.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Sarah Sto­vall of East New Mar­ket; a son, Phillip C. Sto­vall and wife Kathy of St. Michaels; a step­daugh­ter, Karen Gib­bons-Neff of Vi­enna; sev­eral grand­chil­dren, great-grand­chil­dren and one great-great grand­chil­dren. Be­sides his par­ents, Mr. Sto­vall is pre­ceded in death by a step­daugh­ter, Carol Mes­sick.

A grave­side ser­vice will be held on Thurs­day, July 21, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Mary­land East­ern Shore Vet­er­ans Ceme­tery, near Hurlock with Rev. Thomas Becker of­fi­ci­at­ing. Ar­range­ments are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home P.A. in Cam­bridge.
