WILLARDS — The Bayside Breeze 18-under Teal softball team needed a clutch hit with two outs in the bottom of the seventh in last Thursday’s USSSA World Series winners’ bracket game. It got two.

Angelica Sichette ripped an RBI triple down the right-field line to plate Amber Lovelace with the tying run, and Laurie Short blasted a pitch to deep left for the game-winning hit for a 3-2 comeback victory over Lady Rev’s of York, Pa.

The win gave the Breeze a 5-0 record in the 44-team, double-elimination tournament in Wicomico and Worcester counties. The team finished the tournament fifth overall.

The Breeze put the tying run on with one out in the seventh, when Miles walked. Lovelace came in to pinch run. Willis nearly got extra bases when she ripped a liner down the first-base line that was caught for the second out.
