C-SD hosts culinary boot camp
CAMBRIDGE — The Maryland State Department of Education Food Service Division held a Culinary Boot Camp at Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Monday, Aug. 1, through Thursday, Aug. 4, for school food service employees throughout the Eastern Shore of Mar yland.
The goal of the boot camp was to increase the use of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in accordance with the USDA school meal requirements.
A total of 25 participants working in 5 teams developed their culinary skills which included learning knife and cutting skills, recipe development, food presentation, and marketing.
The participants all received 24 hours of professional development in food service continuing education.
MSDE hosted a culinary boot camp at Cambridge-South Dorchester High School for food service employees in the school system. 25 participants from across the state honed their culinary skills over the four day training.
