West End Cit­i­zens As­so­ci­a­tion hosts Satur­day “One Hour Walk­ing Tour of His­toric High Street” in Cam­bridge. Tours will con­tinue each Satur­day (weather per­mit­ting) through Satur­day, Oct. 29. Meet your Colo­nial cos­tumed tour guide at 11 a.m. on Long Wharf at the foot of High Street ev­ery Satur­day. Reser­va­tions are not nec­es­sary, but ap­pre­ci­ated. High Street is the old­est street in the City of Cam­bridge first named in 1706.

Adult Bi­ble Class


The Sal­va­tion Army, 200 Wash­ing­ton Street, would like to in­vite the pub­lic to par­tic­i­pate in the Adult Bi­ble Class held each Sun­day morn­ing at 9:45 a.m. Classes in­volve singing hymns, prayer and a Bi­ble les­son, of­ten with guest speak­ers and spe­cial mu­sic. Cof­fee and pas­tries are of­fered. Chil­dren’s classes are also avail­able, and a wor­ship ser­vice follows at 11 a.m.

Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 91 Fundraiser

Aug. 20

Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 91 in Cam­bridge is hav­ing a fundraiser at the VFW Post 7460, Glas­gow Street in Cam­bridge at 7 p.m. Satur­day, Aug. 20. Dance to the mu­sic of Golden Touch from 8 p.m. to mid­night for $10 per per­son. There will be a silent auc­tion with many items. Pit Beef Lunch

Aug. 25

The Ladies Aux­il­iary of Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 91 will hold a Pit Beef Lunch fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thurs­day, Aug. 25 at the cor­ner of Route 50 and Mary­land Av­enue. Lunch will cost $8 and in­cludes a pit beef sand­wich, chips, and a drink. De­liv­ery will be avail­able to busi­nesses plac­ing 4 or more or­ders in ad­vance. The pro­ceeds will ben­e­fit the Ladies Aux­il­iary whose cof­fers have suf­fered due to the re­cent fire at Post 91. The group uses their funds to pro­vide com­mu­nity pro­grams. Wye River Up­per School, at 316 S. Com­merce St. in Cen­tre­ville, an­nounced Dr. Vin­cent Cu­lotta, au­thor and pres­i­dent of Neuro Be­hav­ioral As­so­ciates will make a pre­sen­ta­tion on So­cial Me­dia and Video Games: A B rain Per­spec­tive at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 at Wye River Up­per School. Cu­lotta will ex­plore the im­pact of so­cial me­dia and video games among chil­dren and teens from a neu­ro­science per­spec­tive. Cu­lotta also will eval­u­ate a num­ber of peer re­viewed stud­ies ad­dress­ing video game use, func­tional changes in the brain dur­ing video game use, the re­la­tion­ship of video game use to re­al­life vi­o­lence, is­sues of de­sen­si­ti­za­tion to vi­o­lence and the spe­cific im­pact of gam­ing upon chil­dren and ado­les­cents with ADHD.
