South Dorch­ester Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion Salt­wa­ter Fish­ing Tour­na­ment

Sept. 4 The 39th An­nual Salt Wa­ter Fish­ing Tour­na­ment will be held Sun­day, Sept. 4 in Golden Hill. Par­tic­i­pants must reg­is­ter by 6 p.m. on Satur­day, Sept. 3, for a fee of $5 per per­son. Prizes will be awarded at 6 p.m. Sun­day, Sept. 4, for sev­eral cat­e­gories. There will be cash prizes, door prizes, raf­fle prizes, and mu­sic. This is a rain or shine event. Folk Mu­seum Lo­cal His­tory Se­ries

Sept. 7 South Dorch­ester Folk Mu­seum will present Dana Paterra, man­ager, and Robert Parker, Su­per­in­ten­dent of the Har­riet Tub­man Un­der­ground Rail­road Vis­i­tor Cen­ter as part of the lo­cal his­tory lec­ture se­ries. The free event will be held at 7 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 7 at the Rob­bins Her­itage Cen­ter, 1003 Green­way Drive. Paterra and Parker will give a vir­tual tour of the cen­ter, a sneak peek of the ex­hibits yet to be in­stalled, and speak about the process of build­ing the tribute to Tub­man. A five-ses­sion Hunter Safety Ed­u­ca­tion Class will be held at the Then­dara 4-H Cen­ter, 6275 Lord’s Cross­ing Rd, Hur­lock. Ses­sions on Sept. 12, 14, 19, 21. will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Satur­day, Sept. 24 will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All five ses­sions must be at­tended to com­plete the course and stu­dents must pass writ­ten and prac­ti­cal ex­ams and par­tic­i­pate in live fir­ing ex­er­cises. The course is open to all in­ter­ested per­sons, free of charge, and those un­der 12 must be ac­com­pa­nied by a par­ent or guardian.
