West End Citizens As­so­ci­a­tion hosts Saturday “One Hour Walk­ing Tour of His­toric High Street” in Cam­bridge. Tours will con­tinue each Saturday (weather per­mit­ting) through Saturday, Oct. 29. Meet your Colo­nial cos­tumed tour guide at 11 a.m. on Long Wharf at the foot of High Street ev­ery Saturday. Reser­va­tions are not nec­es­sary, but ap­pre­ci­ated. High Street is the old­est street in the City of Cam­bridge first named in 1706.

Veter­ans and Heroes Recog­ni­tion

Dorch­ester County’s 18th an­nual Veter­ans and Heroes Recog­ni­tion Day will be held at the East New Mar­ket Vol­un­teer Fire De­part­ment, 4020 East New Mar­ket-Hur­lock Rd, East New Mar­ket on Sept. 10. Doors open at 10 a.m. Me­mo­rial ser­vice will be­gin at 11 a.m., fol­lowed by USO-Style show of lo­cal tal­ent, free book, cof­fee and donuts for all vets at­tend­ing. Bring your rel­a­tive’s mil­i­tary photo for a copy to be added to the Wall of Heroes. Free ad­mis­sion and park­ing.

Waugh Gospel Choir of Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church, 425 High St., is spon­sor­ing its an­nual New Jersey Day be­gin­ning at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10. Rev. Clarence Bent­ley of Haven United Methodist Church in Quin­ton, New Jersey will be the guest pas­tor. Rev. Bent­ley will be ac­com­pa­nied by his con­gre­ga­tion, mem­bers of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in Salem, New Jersey, and a guest choir com­prised of mem­bers of var­i­ous New Jersey churches. All are wel­come, and the event is free of charge. Hoop­ers Is­land Vol­un­teer Fire Co. Water­men’s Rodeo

The Hoop­ers Is­land Vol­un­teer Fire Com­pany will host its an­nual Water­men’s Rodeo Boat Dock­ing con­test be­gin­ning at 11 a.m. on Sun­day, Sept. 11. Ad­mis­sion is free. It will be held at the P. L. Jones Ma­rina and Boat­yard on Old House Point Road, Fish­ing Creek. Water­men com­pete against each other to be the fastest to back their boat into a slip and tie it up. Prizes and awards go to the win­ners in many dif­fer­ent cat­e­gories. There will also be t-shirts for sale, multiple raf­fles, and great food. No cool­ers or drinks al­lowed. The Amer­i­can Spir­i­tual En­sem­ble Con­cert will be held at the Dorch­ester Cen­ter for the Arts at 7 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 14. Tick­ets are on sale now. Ad­vance tick­ets are: $20 for DCA Mem­bers; $25 for non-mem­bers; and stu­dents are $10. Tick­ets at the door will be $30 for mem­bers and non-mem­bers and $15 for stu­dents.
