Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser set for Oct. 8
CAMBRIDGE — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Dorchester County Relay For Life is drawing attention to this with “BRAvo”, a fundraiser featuring designer bras.
“The purpose of highlighting decorated bras is to direct attention to the fact that breast cancer is still a leading cause of death among many women and some men,” said BRAvo Committee chairwoman Vickie Bramble.
The BRAvo fundraiser will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, to benefit the 2017 Dorchester Relay For Life.
“This is a Cambridge Main Street Second Saturday event, and aside from being a fundraiser for Relay, we hope to educate the community, promote local businesses and have some fun,” Bramble said. “We urge those entering bras to put their creative side to work and come up with a bra that will have a real “wow” factor.”
There are four categories for decorated bra entries: most original, prettiest, funniest and best business. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category. The BRAvo bras will be on display at downtown Cambridge businesses until the event on and may be chosen to be modeled in a parade on that Second Saturday.
For an application to enter a designer bra, contact Vickie Bramble at 443-521-3704. There is a $25 application fee for the first bra, and $10 for each additional entry. Entries must be postmarked no later than Friday, Sept. 16. The BRAvo bras and entry fees must be delivered to Vickie Bramble by Saturday, Sept. 24.
