CAM­BRIDGE — Car­men N. Jar­rett, 84, of Cam­bridge, MD, passed away on Mon­day, Septem­ber 5, 2016 at UMSMC at Dorch­ester. She was born in Fill­more, UT, on Nov. 24, 1931 and was a daugh­ter of the late Guy and Elsie Stevens Phelps.

Mrs. Jar­rett grad­u­ated from Mil­lard High School in Fill­more, Utah. Af­ter high school, she went to nurs­ing school at Holy Cross Hospi­tal in Salt Lake City, UT, where she be­came a Reg­is­tered Nurse. She was em­ployed at Holy Cross Hospi­tal for three years and then moved to Cam­bridge in Dec. 1954. In June of 1955, she was em­ployed at Cam­bridge Mary­land Hospi­tal with 40 years of ser­vice. On Aug. 10, 1954, she mar­ried Ed­ward B. Jar­rett, who passed away on April 21, 2015.

Mrs. Jar­rett en­joyed read­ing, cro­chet­ing, walk­ing and trav­el­ing. She was a mem­ber of the Nurses As­so­ci­a­tion and AARP.

She is sur­vived by her son, Glen Ed­ward Jar­rett

and wife Brenda of Cam­bridge; three brothers: Ron­ald Phelps of Cal­i­for­nia, Larry Phelps and Ed­die Phelps, both of Utah; two sis­ters: He­len Mitchell of Alaska and Linda Easley of Utah; and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

A funeral ser­vice will be held on Fri­day, Septem­ber 9, 12 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cam­bridge, with Rev. Wil­liam Davis of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at East New Mar­ket Ceme­tery. Fam­ily will re­ceive friends one hour prior to the ser­vice.
