Dorch­ester Show­case set for Septem­ber 25

CAM­BRIDGE — Dorch­ester Cen­ter for the Arts will present the 40th an­nual Dorch­ester Cen­ter for the Arts Show­case from noon to 5 p.m. Sun­day, Sept. 25, in down­town Cam­bridge.

A wide range of ven­dors are reg­is­tered to show­case var­i­ous art me­dia, and spe­cial demon­stra­tions will take place at the event, which is spon­sored by the Nathan Foun­da­tion and Mary­land State Arts Coun­cil.

With the sup­port from 1880 Bank, the DCA will pro­vide two stage ar­eas this year. The 1880 Stage will be at 304 High Street, and there will be two per­for­mances: Paul Har­ri­son, singer/song­writer at noon; and lo­cal fa­vorite The Un­touch­ables at 1 p.m.

Lo­cated at the Court­house Stage will be the Mid-Shore Com­mu­nity Band at 2 p.m. and the Eastern Shore Dance Academy at 3:30 p.m.

Show­case also will in­clude art demon­stra­tion op­por­tu­ni­ties as well to in­clude screen-paint­ing by Mas­ter Screen Painter John Iampieri; black­smithing by Mark Wil­liams of Wil­liams Black­smithing; fiber arts from the DCA Fiber Fri­day Group; and tra­di­tional rug hook­ing with Elissa Crouch.

There also will be free sails on the skip­jack Nathan of

Dorch­ester at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Artist ven­dors will ind­lue Bead-A-Li­cious with seed beaded items; Christina Mes­sick with paint­ings and cus­tom wood art; Cynda Twil­ley with wreaths, trees and ar­range­ments; Jay Baker with pho­tog­ra­phy; Joyce Fritz Ritz with free-from beaded and wire-wrapped jew­elry; Poseys by the Sea with sea glass jew­elry and home dé­cor; Den­nis Kurth with Kurth Air­brush; and W. Robert Tol­ley with orig­i­nal oils and lim­ited edi­tion prints.

Food ven­dors will in­clude Gab­bins Soft Ice Cream, Over­flow Café Cof­fee and Cook­ies; Pops Snow Palace with snow cones and soft pret­zels; and the St. Paul’s Methodist Men with oys­ter sand­wiches and crab cakes.
