Her­bert F. “Pee­wee” Thomp­son Jr.

MADI­SON — Her­bert F. “Pee­wee” Thomp­son, Jr., 76, of Madi­son passed away on Fri­day, Sept. 16, 2016, at Ch­e­sa­peake Woods Cen­ter. He was born in Lau­rel, MD on Oct. 18, 1939, and was a son of the late Her­bert F. Thomp­son, Sr. and Ellen Ree­ley Thomp­son.

He grad­u­ated from Lau­rel High School class of 1957. Pee­wee served in the U.S. Air Force and re­tired at the rank of Tech Sergeant. In 1972, he moved to Tay­lors Is­land, where he bought Tay­lors Is­land Gen­eral Store un­til the late 70’s. Pee­wee also crabbed and was a bar­tender at Madi­son Bay for many years. On Dec. 2, 1982, he mar­ried the for­mer Bar­bara Brooks. He en­joyed hunt­ing, fish­ing, gar­den­ing,

and watch­ing sports. Pee­wee was past mem­ber of the Cam­bridge Moose.

He is sur­vived by his wife Bar­bara Thomp­son of Madi­son, a sis­ter Brenda Spiegel of Mor­ris­dale, PA, his pet dog Rex and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. Be­sides his par­ents, Mr. Thomp­son is pre­ceded in death by a brother James Thomp­son and a sis­ter Betty Miller.

Fam­ily re­ceived friends on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 21, at Thomas Fu­neral Home, P.A. in Cam­bridge, fol­lowed by a grave­side ser­vice at Old Trin­ity Church­yard with Rev. Mary Ann Far­nell of­fi­ci­at­ing. In lieu of flow­ers, memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions can be made to St. Jude Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Mem­phis, TN 38105.
