Jane McClenahan Henry
NORFOLK, VA. — Jane McClenahan Henry, 87, of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at the Ballentine Assisted Living Home in Norfolk, VA. She was born in Salisbury, and was the daughter of the late Gladys Haring McClenahan and Henry F. McClenanhan.
She married Frank “Larry” Henry in 1947 and their only daughter. Laurie, was born
in 1953. Jane lived in Cambridge all her life until moving to Norfolk in December 2015. She was a stay at home mom and part time worker until she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in education from Salisbury State University in 1968, followed by her Master’s degree in History. Jane taught history and civics at Cambridge and Cambridge South Dorchester High Schools for 23 years.
She was predeceased by Larry, her husband of 66 years, mother, father, and brother, William McClenahan. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Jane Henry of Norfolk; sister, Mary Wiesman and Mary’s son, Walter of Alexandria, Va., and her sister-in-law, Janice McClenahan of Newark, Del., and Janice’s three children, their spouses and their children.
