Cambridge Woman’s Club to hold dessert, games party Oct. 21
CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge Woman’s Club will host a dessert, card and games party at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Sycamore Cottage in the club house, 417 High St., Cambridge.
Groups will play duplicate bridge, party bridge and various board and card games. Bring a group of your own or inquire to join any one of the groups already established. Admission is $10 per person and tickets may be purchased from Sandra Strauss at 410901-2274.
The club also will have two items for raffle. The first is a hand-signed print, “Little Choptank Companions,” representing an Eastern Shore scene, painted by local artist, Robert Tolley. The print has an estimated value of $350. The second item is a gorgeous hand-carved bowl by Joseph Pax of Lansdale, Pa. The bowl is made from wood from the atlas cedar at Sycamore Cottage, which was estimated to be at least 100 years old, and which succumbed to disease and was cut down by the club last year. The bowl has an estimated value of $150.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or six tickets for $5, and may be purchased from any club member prior to the party, or at the door. The drawing will take place during the party.
Additionally, homemade desserts will be served, and ticket holders are eligible for door prizes donated by club members. Seats and raffle tickets are limited, so reservations to the event are suggested.
