CAM­BRIDGE — John­nie W. Fitzhugh, 88, of Cam­bridge, MD, passed away on Satur­day, Oct. 1, 2016 at Ch­e­sa­peake Woods Cen­ter. He was born in An­drews on Dec. 3, 1927, and was a son of the late Enos W. and Fan­nie Ins­ley Fitzhugh.

He at­tended schools and Streets United Methodist Church in Lakesville. At the age of 17, at­tended Mary­land School for the Blind in Bal­ti­more. Some years ago, Mr. Fitzhugh had done some pi­ano tun­ing, chair can­ing and he also made wire crab nets. He also taught his neph­ews how to do chair can­ing and crab nets. John was a very kind per­son and any­one who met him was a friend.

He is sur­vived by his sis­ter, Louise Prahl of Cam­bridge; two sis­ters in law: Dar­lyn Fitzhugh and Mae Fitzhugh, both of Cam­bridge; nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews; three spe­cial neph­ews: Keith Turner (Karen), Kirk Turner (Jim) and Kris Turner (Kim­berly); two great nieces and a nephew Ryan Turner, Chloe Turner and Macy Turner; a very spe­cial niece Faye Arm­strong (Howard); a niece Diana Har­ris; and adopted niece Sherri Wil­liams. Be­sides his par­ents, Mr. Fitzhugh is pre­ceded in death by two sis­ters: Ve­nie Bai­ley and Hazel Foxwell; five broth­ers: Clarence, James, Omro, Woodrow and Nolan Fitzhugh; two broth­ers in law: Ben­jamin Turner and John “Buddy” Prahl.

Pall­bear­ers will be his neph­ews Kirk Turner, Keith Turner, Kris Turner, Frank Foxwell, Neil Foxwell, and Ryan Turner. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers will be Ju­lian Fitzhugh, Don­nie Fitzhugh, Timmy Foxwell, Scott Foxwell, Wayne Foxwell, Jim Love­less, Lo­gan Fitzhugh, Steve Foxwell and Fred­die Foxwell.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 1 p.m. Thurs­day, Oct. 6, at Thomas Fu­neral Home, P.A. in Cam­bridge, with Rev. A. Delmer Wil­ley Jr. of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Dorch­ester Me­mo­rial Park. Fam­ily will re­ceive friends one hour prior to the ser­vice.
