WHCP to host membership drive
CAMBRIDGE — WHCP 101.5 FM Cambridge Community Radio will begin its week-long Fall Membership Drive Saturday, Oct. 22.
The event wraps up the following week on Saturday, Oct. 29, with an open house at its station, 512 Poplar Street in downtown Cambridge. The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Drop in to record your station ID and hear yourself on air. Take a free tour of the studios. Enjoy live music, spontaneous fun and goodies for all.
Also meet the station’s staff and on-air personalities, who will be on hand throughout the day for a “Desert Island DJ” event featuring music each of them has chosen to have if stranded on a desert island.
WHCP Cambridge Community Radio broadcasts on 101.5 FM and offers worldwide streaming at whcp.org The station is on air 24/7 and features more than 130 locally-produced program hours of music and talk shows weekly.
Each day, WHCP showcases a wide variety of musical entertainment including blues, big band, jazz, oldies, country, folk, alternative rock, Celtic, punk and classical.
WHCP is now offering qualified members of the community a free special sub-channel “radio reading service” for visually-limited listeners. Newspapers, books, and magazines are read by volunteers to keep listeners informed about local and world news and information. Inquire at info@whcp. org
