Wags and Wheels event set for Oct. 29
CAMBRIDGE — Baywater Animal Rescue, the leading no-kill animal shelter on the Eastern Shore, is bringing the inaugural Wags and Wheels event to Cambridge on Saturday, Oct. 29.
Wags and Wheels is an autocross event, which is a timed competition where drivers navigate one at a time through a defined obstacle course. It is a motorsport that emphasizes safety while competing against the clock to demonstrate agility and reflexes. Car handling and driver skill are more important than raw horsepower.
The open event will be held at the Cambridge Plaza on U.S. Route 50 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All drivers 18 and older, with a valid driver’s license are invited to enter. Demonstrate driving skills, challenge friends to compete against the clock. Registers drive their own car, however, helmets are required. The host of the event, the Chesapeake Region of the Porsche Club of America, will provide helmets.
“This major fundraiser for Baywater Animal Rescue is an exciting fun-filled event for the entire family,” said Baywater Animal Rescue Executive Director Maureen Scott-Taylor. “In addition to the thrill of the racing, there will be classic cars on display. Visitors can also enjoy food and music all day.”
There is a $40 (tax-deductible) donation to drive your car in the race. The entry fee to come and watch is only $2 per adult and all children under 12 are free. For more information visit, baywateranimalrescue.org or call 410-8291518.
