DCA offering art classes
CAMBRIDGE — Dorchester Center for the Arts has a few slots remaining for upcoming programs. While space is limited, there is still time to register for the following classes and workshops.
Pet Sweater Crochet — Instructor: Mary Romans
Students will crochet a sweater for their pet in this one-day class. Participants can choose from an assortment of patterns to make a simple sweater that will fit most small to medium sized pets. Some crochet or needle art experience is necessary, and the class is open to ages 16 to adult. The class will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Fees are $25 for DCA members; $35 for nonmembers.
Poetry Workshop “Opening the Door: How Poems Begin” with Sue Ellen Thompson
Poets and poems are often remembered for their opening lines, and this class will examine the question, whether there a “right” or at least a “better” way to begin a poem. Participants will explore some of the ways in which poets have traditionally chosen to open their poems and then look at some poems that break with tradition. The session is open to poets at all levels, from beginner to advanced. This workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. Fees are $50 for DCA members; $75 for non-members.
