Vir­ginia Parker “Ginny” Porter

CAM­BRIDGE — Vir­ginia Parker “Ginny” Porter, 85, of Cam­bridge, MD, passed away on Tues­day, Novem­ber 15, 2016 at Ch­e­sa­peake Woods Cen­ter. She was born in Cam­bridge on Feb. 7, 1931, and was a daugh­ter of the late Luke R. and Made­line Aaron Parker.

Mrs. Porter at­tended schools in Cam­bridge and grad­u­ated from Cam­bridge High School class of 1948. She then at­tended Salisbury State Col­lege, where she earned a B.S. De­gree in ed­u­ca­tion. On Dec. 28, 1949, she mar­ried Wil­liam Otto Porter, who passed away on March 8, 2003.

Mrs. Porter taught at Acad­emy School, and was later vice prin­ci­pal at Hur­lock Pri­mary School and later prin­ci­pal at the Hud­son School. She also taught art at Vi­enna Ele­men­tary School and did pri­vate tu­tor­ing at home. Mrs. Porter was a mem­ber of Zion United Methodist Church, D.A.R., and the Cam­bridge Countr y Club.

She is sur­vived by two daugh­ters, Bil­lie Sue Nor-

ton and her hus­band Judge John L. Nor­ton III of Cam­bridge and JoAnn P. Har­ring­ton and hus­band Wil­liam E. Har­ring­ton of Cam­bridge; two grand­daugh­ters, Amanda Leigh Nor­ton of Rich­mond, VA and Amy Lau­ren Bo­bitka and hus­band Brian of Sil­ver Spring, MD; a great grand­daugh­ter, Aria Rayne Bo­bitka of Sil­ver Spring, MD; a sis­ter Fayre Rin­gler of Lake­land, FL; sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. In ad­di­tion to her hus­band, she was pre­ceded in death by two sis­ters, Au­drey Edgar and Alva P. Booze.

All ser­vices will be pri­vate.
