MSP starts 2016 Bears That Care Toy Drive
EASTON — The Maryland State Police Easton Barrack is currently accepting donations through Dec. 22 for its annual Bears That Care Toy Drive.
The toy drive was a success in 2015, MSP said in a press release.
During the holiday season the toy drive was able to help out over 350 families and 800 children. With the help of the community and local law enforcement agencies, each child was able to have a wonderful Christmas, MSP said.
There were several local businesses that helped make last year’s toy drive a success. Toys were also donated to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton Pediatric ward, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, local churches and local shelters.
Preston Automotive Group will again be joining the Bears That Care Toy Drive this year. Last year it had over 260 bikes donated. This year’s goal is to have over 300 bikes donated. If you would like to donate a bike you can drop it off at Preston Ford located at 4313 Preston Road, Hurlock. Anyone with questions about donating a bike can contact Earl Wilson at 410924-5844.
MSP’s deadline for toys being donated is December 22, 2016. The last application day is Thursday, Nov. 17. It will collect new and unwrapped, jackets and gloves for local children whose families are in need this Christmas. Donations are also accepted 24 hours a day at the Easton Barrack, 7053 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601.
