Pleasant Day’s Holiday Benefit Gala set for Dec 1
CAMBRIDGE — The Festival of Wreaths and the Holiday Benefit Gala is open until Wednesday, Dec. 1, and the public is invited to visit, walk around and bid on the wreath of their choice from the 86 wreaths that are designed and crafted by artists and professionals and donated to Pleasant Day Medical Adult Day Care.
At 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1, the Festival of Wreaths will morph into the Holiday Benefit Gala, and silent bidding on the wreaths will end at 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend the gala, and there will be a free shuttle from the Cambridge South Dorchester High School parking lot.
The Taste of Dorchester finger foods will be provided by Dorchester restaurants and caterers, and live entertainment. The live auction will begin at 7 p.m. with auctioneer Buddy Foxwell.
With more than 40 items, including jewelry, a bowling party, gift certificates, a 32inch TV, a child’s bicycle, toys, bushels of crabs, pasteurized crab meat, a Paddle and Peddle package, a Center Market spiral ham, a banana cake, a St. Michael’s Winery wine tasting, Mike Elzey guitar les- sons, a framed artist proof of a 1978-79 duck stamp, an adult coloring book package, beauty packages, manicures and a decorated 4-foot tree.

The money wreath was crafted by Phyllis Smith is decorated with money donated by SunTrust Bank. The wreath will be a live auction item on Dec. 1, auction beginning at 7 p.m. The attendees at the Holiday Benefit Gala can guess the amount of money and the person with the closest guess will win $25.
