Ruth A. “Peggy” Squires

LINKWOOD — Ruth A. “Peggy” Squires, 85, of Linkwood, MD, passed away on Thurs­day, Dec. 1, 2016 at Mallard Bay Care Cen­ter with her fam­ily by her side. She was born in Church Creek on Feb. 23, 1931, and was a daugh­ter of the late J. Bald­win and Lena Elzey Fitzhugh.

Mrs. Squires at­tended schools in Cam­bridge. On July 31, 1965, she mar­ried John W. Squires, who passed away on Feb. 17, 2001. She was a home­maker and she was a mem­ber of the Ea­gles Lodge where she was a past sec­re­tary and at­tended the First Bap­tist Church in Cam­bridge.

Sur­vived by five chil­dren: Tammy Todd Whit­man and hus­band Ed­die of Hur­lock; Karen Boyd and hus­band David of Ch­e­sa­peake, VA; Vera Cu­sick of Linkwood; Charles Cu­sick Jr. and wife Karen of Fed­er­als­burg; and Jef­frey Cu­sick and wife Lisa of Pre­ston; 13 grand­chil­dren; 18 great grand­chil­dren; sev­eral nieces and neph­ews. Be­sides her par­ents and hus­band, Mrs. Squires is pre­ceded in death by a son, J. Wil­liam “Billy” Cu­sick; a daugh­ter, Lena Mast; a grand­daugh­ter; a grand­son; 11 sis­ters and broth­ers.

Pall­bear­ers will be John Boyd, A.J. Cu­sick, Jef­frey Cu­sick, Randy Todd, Kevin Stull, Carl Col­bourne, Kevin Rems­berg and Scott Aaron.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at noon Satur­day, Dec. 10, at Cam­bridge Wes­leyan Church in Cam­bridge, with Pas­tor Jack Diehl and Ricky Parker of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Fam­ily will re­ceive friends one hour prior to the ser­vice. In­ter­ment will be pri­vate.
