Lawrence ‘Larry’ F. Owens

CAM­BRIDGE — Lawrence “Larry” F. Owens, 83, of Cam­bridge, MD, passed away on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 6, 2016 at his home. He was born in Cam­bridge on Aug. 16, 1933, and was a son of the late Wil­liam C. and Aileen Slacum Owens.

Mr. Owens grad­u­ated from Cam­bridge High School class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force dur­ing the Korean Con­flict and was an air traf­fic con­troller. On April 29, 1962, he mar­ried the for­mer Carolyn Faye Bradley, who passed away on April 30, 2015.

He was a mas­ter elec­tri­cian and was em­ployed with sev­eral busi­nesses, but his long­est em­ploy­ment was with Air­pax. Mr. Owens en­joyed wood work­ing. He was a mem­ber of Grace United Methodist Church.

He is sur­vived by his son, Bruce Owens, of Cam­bridge; a grand­daugh­ter, Mea­gan E. Owens of Cam­bridge; a brother, David Owens of Vi­enna; and a sis­ter, Lau­ralee Hur­ley of Connecticut. Be­sides his par­ents and his wife, Mr. Owens is pre­ceded in death by a son, Jef­frey S. Owens.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 12:30 p.m. Fri­day, Dec. 9, at Thomas Fu­neral Home, P.A. in Cam­bridge, with Rev. Christina Blake of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at the Maryland East­ern Shore Vet­er­ans Ceme­tery. Fam­ily will re­ceive friends one hour prior to the ser­vice.
