CAM­BRIDGE — Elmer Lee Wright, 91, of Cam­bridge, MD, passed away on Mon­day, Dec. 12, 2016 at Mal­lard Bay Care Cen­ter. He was born in Cam­bridge on Sept. 24, 1925, and was a son of the late Kemp and Elsie Wil­ley Wright.

Mr. Wright be­came a mem­ber of Zion United Methodist Church at an early age, teach­ing Sunday school, par­tic­i­pat­ing in the choir and many church ac­tiv­i­ties. In 1943, he grad­u­ated from Cam­bridge High School and was awarded a schol­ar­ship to Johns Hopkins. How­ever, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corp, be­com­ing a pi­lot and al­ways main­tained an in­ter­est in avi­a­tion. Mr. Wright be­came the owner of Burch Paint and Glass and re­tired in 1993. In 1957, he mar­ried the for­mer Betty Keene and they resided in Cam­bridge and part time in Florida. He was also a mem­ber of the Cam­bridge Lodge 66AF and AM.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Betty Wright, of Cam­bridge; three nieces: Christina Kight, Donna Lan­don and Mar­garet Ann Glid­den; two neph­ews: Earl Peter Wright Jr. and Andy Wil­ley; and val­ued friends. Be­sides his par­ents, Mr. Wright is pre­ceded in death by a sis­ter, Peggy Wright Wil­ley; and a brother, Earl Peter Wright.

Pall­bear­ers will be Cur­tis White, Earl Peter Wright, Calvin Lan­don, Ed­die Howard, Alex Hart and Thomas Wright.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 1 p.m. Satur­day, Dec. 17, at Thomas Fu­neral Home, P.A. in Cam­bridge, with Rev. Wil­liam Davis of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Dorch­ester Memo­rial Park. Fam­ily will re­ceive friends one hour prior to the ser­vice.
