Sal­va­tion Army Adult Bible Class Sun­days

The Sal­va­tion Army, 200 Wash­ing­ton Street, would like to in­vite the pub­lic to par­tic­i­pate in the Adult Bible Class held each Sun­day morn­ing at 9:45 a.m. Classes in­volve singing hymns, prayer and a Bible les­son, of­ten with guest speak­ers and spe­cial mu­sic. Re­lay for Life Kick-off Jan. 31

The Kick-off for “He­roes for Hope,” the 2017 Dorch­ester County Re­lay for Life, will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 31, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Mary­land Av­enue, Cam­bridge. All team mem­bers and those wish­ing to join a team for the 2017 Re­lay are in­vited to at­tend. Light re­fresh­ments will be served, with activities to fol­low.

South Dorch­ester Folk Museum Lo­cal His­tory Lec­ture Se­ries Feb. 1

The South Dorch­ester Folk Museum will present an in­stall­ment of their free lo­cal lec­ture se­ries at 7 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, Feb. 1 at the Rob­bins Her­itage Cen­ter, 1003 Green­way Drive. The topic will be “Boot­leg­ging in Dorch­ester County,” pre­sented by Sheriff Jim Phillips. He will talk about the his­tory of stills and boot­leg­ging in the county, and ex­pects to bring a typ­i­cal still to show the au­di­ence. He will also talk about his ca­reer and the cur­rent sta­tus of law en­force­ment in the county.
