GOLDEN HILL — Meet the con­tes­tants for the Miss, Lit­tle Miss and Lit­tle Mis­ter com­pe­ti­tions for the 72nd Na­tional Out­door Show, which will be held Fri­day and Satur­day, Feb. 24 and 25, at South Dorch­ester School in Golden Hill.

CAM­BRIDGE — The 72nd Na­tional Out­door Show will be held Fri­day and Satur­day, Feb. 24 and 25, at South Dorch­ester School in Golden Hill.

Fes­tiv­i­ties will be­gin with the Miss Out­doors Pageant be­gin­ning at 7:30 p.m. Fri­day, Feb 24. The doors will open at 5 p.m. for those wish­ing to dine and view ex­hibits be­fore the pro­gram.

Af­ter the pageant, the World Cham­pion Muskrat Semi­fi­nals for Men and Women will be held.

The doors will open again at 10:30 a.m. Satur­day, Feb. 25, for the Lit­tle Miss and Lit­tle Mis­ter pageant, which starts at 11:30 a.m.

Satur­day af­ter­noon will be full of com­pe­ti­tions and demon­stra­tions, in­clud­ing duck and goose call­ing, pole skin­ning, log saw­ing and muskrat cook­ing.

Muskrat will be ser ved all day un­til sold out.

The main event will start at 7 p.m. Satur­day, and fea­ture a live auc­tion, chil­dren’s races, corn shelling, oys­ter shuck­ing, trap set­ting, rac­coon skin­ning, nu­tria skin­ning and muskrat skin­ning.

The 4th Na­tional Out­door Show Cook­book will be on sale for $15 through­out the event.

Pre-sale wrist­bands, good for all three events, are avail­able at the Dorch­ester Chamber of Com­merce and Foxwell Auc­tions un­til Thurs­day, Feb. 23. The cost is $18 for adults and $7 for chil­dren. At the door, tick­ets will be $7 for adults and $3 for chil­dren ages 3 to 12; sep­a­rate ad­mis­sion is re­quired for Fri­day’s show, Satur­day’s mati­nee and Satur­day evening’s show.

Dorch­ester County Coun­cil pre­sented a procla­ma­tion on Feb. 7, rec­og­niz­ing Fe­bru­ary as Na­tional Out­door Show Month.

The procla­ma­tion saluted the Na­tional Out­door Foun­da­tion Com­mit­tee for spon­sor­ing this event that high­lights the nat­u­ral re­sources and her­itage of Dorch­ester County, in­clud­ing trap­pers, sports­men, wa­ter­men and wildlife.
