CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester Family YMCA will host a community event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at RAR Brewing in downtown Cambridge.
The event will celebrate health and wellness in support of the Dorchester County Family YMCA’s Crab Run scheduled for Saturday, April 8, and the Heart of the Chesapeake Bike Tour scheduled for Saturday, July 22.
Sunday’s event will have music by Anna Burgess and auction items, including bushels of crabs from J.M. Clayton Company, golf foursomes from Choptank River Golf and Events Center and River Marsh Golf Club, a kayak and much more.
Additionallty, this year a very special item will be up for auction. Bob Brannock’s personal road bike, a 55-inch Bianchi Virata with full Shimano Ultegra components will be sold during a live auction. At the event, you can sign up for the YMCA’s Crab Run and Bike Tour. Raffle tickets for a $1,000 gift certificate to On the Rivet Cycle and Sport will also be available. The winner will be drawn on July 22 and needs not be present to win.
All proceeds from the Crab Run and the Heart of the Chesapeake Bike Tour benefit the Dorchester YMCA’s Bob Brannock Endowment Fund and the Dorchester YMCA’s Scholarship Fund. While the Endowment Fund ensures the future sustainability of the YMCA, the Scholarship Fund ensures the YMCA is able to fulfill its mission of never turning anyone away who is in need of help or assistance.
“We are proud to partner with the Dorchester County Family YMCA to provide this meaningful and fun event,” said Chris Brohawn, one of RAR’s creators and owners. “It’s about community…. it’s about pride, it’s about supporting one another…. and when we join forces…. together, we can make our community even stronger and healthier. We want to be a part of that…. and we hope you do too.”
