YMCA host­ing fundraiser

CAM­BRIDGE — The Dorch­ester Fam­ily YMCA will host a com­mu­nity event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sun­day, March 5, at RAR Brew­ing in downtown Cam­bridge.

The event will cel­e­brate health and well­ness in sup­port of the Dorch­ester County Fam­ily YMCA’s Crab Run sched­uled for Satur­day, April 8, and the Heart of the Ch­e­sa­peake Bike Tour sched­uled for Satur­day, July 22.

Sun­day’s event will have mu­sic by Anna Burgess and auc­tion items, in­clud­ing bushels of crabs from J.M. Clay­ton Com­pany, golf four­somes from Chop­tank River Golf and Events Cen­ter and River Marsh Golf Club, a kayak and much more.

Ad­di­tion­allty, this year a very spe­cial item will be up for auc­tion. Bob Bran­nock’s per­sonal road bike, a 55-inch Bianchi Vi­rata with full Shi­mano Ul­te­gra com­po­nents will be sold dur­ing a live auc­tion. At the event, you can sign up for the YMCA’s Crab Run and Bike Tour. Raf­fle tick­ets for a $1,000 gift cer­tifi­cate to On the Rivet Cy­cle and Sport will also be avail­able. The win­ner will be drawn on July 22 and needs not be present to win.

All pro­ceeds from the Crab Run and the Heart of the Ch­e­sa­peake Bike Tour ben­e­fit the Dorch­ester YMCA’s Bob Bran­nock En­dow­ment Fund and the Dorch­ester YMCA’s Schol­ar­ship Fund. While the En­dow­ment Fund en­sures the fu­ture sus­tain­abil­ity of the YMCA, the Schol­ar­ship Fund en­sures the YMCA is able to ful­fill its mis­sion of never turn­ing any­one away who is in need of help or as­sis­tance.

We want to be a part of that…. and we hope you do too.”
