‘Spring into Art’ at Sec­ond Satur­day in Down­town Cam­bridge

— This Sec­ond Satur­day, April 8, “Spring into Art” in down­town Cam­bridge

The day will fea­ture a spe­cial Kiln Born pot­tery paint­ing stu­dio “pop up” at the lo­ca­tion of Rock Lob­stah’s Groove City Ar­cade, 501 Po­plar Street. Kiln Born Cre­ations will be on hand with a “paint your own pot­tery” bou­tique. Let your in­ner artist out as you de­sign and paint your choice of table­ware or kid­friendly fig­urine. Pro­fes­sional artists will be on hand to as­sist through­out the en­tire process. All ages wel­come, $15 per piece. The stu­dio will be open from 3 to 5 p.m. (last seat­ing starts at 5p.m.). The Down­town Art Stroll will kick off at 5 p.m. Visit new down­town artists Mary Ann and John Dy­nan of “Jew­elry by Cot­tage Stu­dio” at 408 Race Street (above Knit Nook). For each pur­chase at Jew­elry by Cot­tage Stu­dio val­ued at $50 dol­lars or more dur­ing the month of April, you will re­ceive a com­pli­men­tary T-shirt de­signed by their grand­son, Trust, who is on the Spec­trum. This is a great way to help spread aware­ness while sport­ing a unique de­sign.

“Se­crets of the Eastern Shore” will be of­fer­ing book sign­ing by writer Jim Duffy and the art­work of Jill Ja­suta at the Joie de Vivre Stu­dio, 408 Race Street (above Knit Nook). Find them there be­tween 5 and 7:30 p.m.

In the gal­leries are “Points of Jux­ta­po­si­tion: A Gath­er­ing of Six AfricanAmer­i­can Artists” at the Dorch­ester Cen­ter for the Arts, 321 High Street. The ex­hibit fea­tures the works of Mary­land and Delaware artists Tony Bur­ton, Alex Gam­ble, Ken­nie Jones, Michael Mor­ris, Ernie Satchell and Carl Wil­liams, with a spe­cial artist re­cep­tion from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Main Street Gallery, 518 Po­plar Street, fea­tures their show “A Change in At­mos­phere”. Each of the gallery’s mem­bers will ex­hibit work that in some way re­flects a change, ei­ther in their world or the world around them. A spe­cial artist re­cep­tion will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Art Bar, 317 High Street, will fea­ture the Satur­day Night LIVE sounds of jazz, blues, and funk by Ocean City Trio “Dark Gold Jazz”. The per­for­mance will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Tick­ets are $10, avail­able at the door or in ad­vance at The Art Bar.

The Leggett Gallery at Ch­e­sa­peake Col­lege down­town Race Street lo­ca­tion will fea­ture the works by pho­tog­ra­phers of The Bay­wa­ter Cam­era Club. The Bay­wa­ter Cam­era Club (BCC) was formed a few years ago, when a group of Cam­bridge photo en­thu­si­asts saw the need for a lo­cal club to serve the needs of pho­tog­ra­phers at all skill lev­els. The pho­tog­ra­phers fea­tured in this ex­hibit are: Ron Ber­man, Lynne Browne, Craig Cald­well, Pam Mon­tell De­craecke, Jean S. Del Sordo, Steve Del Sordo, Bill McDon­nell, Kathryn Mc Knight, Terry Melius, Wendy Rue, Fran Saun­ders and Dee Terry. A spe­cial artist re­cep­tion will be hosted from 5 to 6:30 p.m, at 416 Race Street.
