Cambridge Lions Club hosting radio auction
CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge Lions Club will hold its 39th annual Radio Auction from 7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, on WCEM “The Heat” 106.3 FM.
The fundraiser is the organization’s largest of the year, and benefits many causes in the community including scholarships, Little League, eyeglasses for the needy, Peace Poster Contest, Diabetes-related ser vices, preschool vision screening, Adopt A Highway, Backpacks for Schools program and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Lions bring in about $7,000 each year for the auction, and have a goal to exceed that. More than 100
items will be auctioned in the four hours on the radio. Items will be auctioned in 20-minute segments during the show. To bid, call 410901-6920.
Items range in value from $35 to winning a 20 percent discount for a car from Hertrich Honda and Kia in Easton. Other items included are a discount on a farm tractor, autographed baseball from former Baltimore Orioles Harold Baines, restaurant gift cards, pictures, paintings, Talbot Cinema Society membership and a hand-carved black capped chickadee.

“We appreciate the support the community has given us over the years with the radio auction,” said Cambridge Lions Club chairman Donald Rae. “We have been able to help a lot of people through the generosity of the community. We are looking forward to another great year.”
New for this year is most items will have a minimum initial bid of at least 25 percent of the retail value.
“We will have a lot of items for many interests,” Rae said. “There are items for activities, home décor, tools, food. It is one of the best selections we’ve had.
“We want to thank WCEM for allowing us to have the auction again on their station,” he said. “They have been the home for the auction since its inception. We also thank all the donors who have supported this year’s auction.”
