Cam­bridge Lions Club host­ing ra­dio auc­tion

CAM­BRIDGE — The Cam­bridge Lions Club will hold its 39th an­nual Ra­dio Auc­tion from 7 to 11 p.m. Wed­nes­day, April 26, on WCEM “The Heat” 106.3 FM.

The fundraiser is the or­ga­ni­za­tion’s largest of the year, and ben­e­fits many causes in the com­mu­nity in­clud­ing schol­ar­ships, Lit­tle League, eye­glasses for the needy, Peace Poster Con­test, Di­a­betes-re­lated ser vices, preschool vi­sion screen­ing, Adopt A High­way, Back­packs for Schools pro­gram and Johns Hopkins Hospi­tal in Bal­ti­more.

Lions bring in about $7,000 each year for the auc­tion, and have a goal to ex­ceed that. More than 100

items will be auc­tioned in the four hours on the ra­dio. Items will be auc­tioned in 20-minute seg­ments dur­ing the show. To bid, call 410901-6920.

Items range in value from $35 to win­ning a 20 per­cent dis­count for a car from Her­trich Honda and Kia in Easton. Other items in­cluded are a dis­count on a farm trac­tor, au­to­graphed base­ball from former Bal­ti­more Orioles Harold Baines, restau­rant gift cards, pic­tures, paint­ings, Tal­bot Cin­ema So­ci­ety mem­ber­ship and a hand-carved black capped chick­adee.

“We ap­pre­ci­ate the sup­port the com­mu­nity has given us over the years with the ra­dio auc­tion,” said Cam­bridge Lions Club chair­man Don­ald Rae. “We have been able to help a lot of peo­ple through the gen­eros­ity of the com­mu­nity. We are look­ing for­ward to an­other great year.”

New for this year is most items will have a min­i­mum ini­tial bid of at least 25 per­cent of the re­tail value.

“We will have a lot of items for many in­ter­ests,” Rae said. “There are items for ac­tiv­i­ties, home dé­cor, tools, food. It is one of the best se­lec­tions we’ve had.

“We want to thank WCEM for al­low­ing us to have the auc­tion again on their sta­tion,” he said. “They have been the home for the auc­tion since its in­cep­tion. We also thank all the donors who have sup­ported this year’s auc­tion.”
