WORTON — CambridgeSouth Dorchester’s Morgan Tracy scored in double overtime for the Vikings in a 3-2 victory over Kent County Wednesday, Sept. 27.

The victory caps a week with two double overtime games — the first coming against perennial 2A power Easton, which ended in a 1-1 tie. Wednesday’s victory improves the Vikings record to 5-1-1 overall, and 4-1-1 in the North Bayside.

Morgan Tracy’s goal came in a furious extra session with both teams having golden opportunities to end the game. But Morgan Tracy got the golden goal when she lifted s shot from the right wings over the hand of Trojan goalkeeper Alexis Langenfelder.

“We were tired after hav- ing the double overtime game against Easton, but the girls kept grinding out there, and got a win against a quality Kent County team,” said Cambridge-SD head coach Kareem Otey. “We didn’t give up. We kept shooting.”

The Vikings tailed 1-0 at halftime, but quickly tied the game in the 49th minute. Leila Robinson corralled a bouncing ball in the box, and found the back of the net for a 1-1 tie.

CSD continued to pressure the Trojans. Brooke Windsor hit the post, and Abby Robinson gathered the rebound, but she shot was saved by Langenfelder.

In the 53rd minute, Windsor feed Leila Robinson nit her shot was saved. Morgan Tracy corralled the loose ball, then guided a pass to Riley Keener but her shot went off the post.

Two minutes later, the Vikings took the lead 2-1 when Haley Pietras lofted a long ball to Windsor who sped by the defense and scored.

The Trojans (1-5, 1-4) answered the CSD goal when Jamie Heavlow scored her second goal of the game for a 2-2 tie.

Four times in the final 10 minutes of regulation Langenfelder made clutch saves to keep the game tied. Twice she raced out of the net on Windsor, and got to the ball first.

In the first over time, Windsor had two good looks, the first on a breakaway, but Langenfelder made the save. The second chance came when Haley Wright lofted a ball over the Trojan defense to a streaking Windsor, but again Langenfelder made the save. Bayley Tracy gathered in one of the rebounds, but her shot went high.
