American Legion Post 91 Dance
American Legion Post 91 is sponsoring a dance featuring the Jones Boys from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. It will be held in the back hall of the Radiance Drive location, with a $5 cover charge. Come out and help celebrate the Jones Boys return to the newly renovated Legion.
First Baptist Church Ladies Prayer Breakfast
First Baptist Church Cambridge will host the monthly Ladies Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. Aug. 18. Bev Elliott will lead the program entitled “Finding Your Joy.” There will be praise music by James Elliott. and grace will be sung by Claire Bozman. Bethel AME Church Vacation Bible School
Bethel AME Church in Cambridge will host Vacation Bible School from Aug. 20 to Aug. 23. The program will be from 6 to 8 p.m. each night. The Cambridge Association of Neighborhoods nonprofit organization will have a community picnic from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Long Wharf Park in Cambridge. Bring your own food or food truck for barbecue. Free shaved ice to the first 100 people. Please bring chairs, blankets or canopies. Entertainment will be provided.
Richardson Maritime Museum Ship Visit
The Richardson Maritime Museum is scheduled to welcome the Maryland Dove to Cambridge. The museum’s own Jim Richardson built the tall ship in 1978. It serves as St. Mary’s City floating ambassador. The museum is celebrating the ship’s 40th anniversary with the visit to the Eastern Shore. The planks will be down from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, and Sunday, Sept. 9. Tours of the ship will be open to the public. Donations will be accepted.
