Dorchester Swingers Square Dancing
The Dorchester Swingers’ Square Dancing Club will have its first Friday of the Month dance in the Multi-Purpose room of Maple Elementary School off of state Route 16 and Egypt Road in Cambridge. The school is adjacent to Cambridge South Dorchester High School. Parking is available in front of the door of the multi-purpose room off of Egypt Road. The dance is free for members and guests that aren’t dancers. Other dancers pay $7. The time of the dance is 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Free snacks will be available. Workshops are held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday night that school is in session. MSP Toy Drive Thur Dec. 17
The 2018 Maryland State Police “Bears That Care Mid-Shore” toy drive is underway. Application days will be 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 30 and 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Preston Firehouse, 3680 Choptank Road, Preston. Bring a photo ID and your child’s birth certificate and proof of guardianship. The deadline for donations is Dec. 17. State troopers are collecting toys (new and unwrapped), jackets and gloves for local children whose families are in need this Christmas. Donations also will be accepted 24 hours a day at the Easton Barracks, 7053 Ocean Gateway, after Nov. 16. In the 2017 holiday season, the toy drive helped more than 200 families and 600 children. Toys also were to the pediatric ward of the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, local churches and local shelters. St. Andrews Episcopal Bluegrass Concert

The Lakes and Straits VFC will host a tricky tray fundraiser Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Cambridge Moose Lodge.
