THERE IS A SMALL CONTINGENT OF FANS WHO BELLYACHE ABOUT THE GROWING PREDICTABILITY OF WHO’S GONNA KICK WHOSE BUTT AT NHRA NATIONAL EVENTS. Indy 2017 proved this certainly is not the case, as many of the heavy hitters and low qualifiers tumbled early. This year’s fireworks prove, once again, Indy is a must-attend event.
This was Steve Torrence’s third attempt for a T/F Indy win, and it was indeed a charm, as he defeated a tire-rattling Kebin Kinsley (far lane) for the Wally. But to be honest, the real story was Kinsley. The Texan, with very little nitro seat time, qualified 16th then took out #1 qualifier Clay Millican, Shawn Langdon and Tony Schumacher, before falling to Torrence.
