Tyyan Williams-Moving Forward. By DTM’s Junior Interviewer, Andrew Culbreath

I had the terrific and magnificent privilege to interview Tyyan Williams, a talented fashion designer, author and singer. It was an honor to listen to her talk about the many great things she has done already in her life. Tyyan Williams was born in Newark, New Jersey and ever since she was 9, she was intrigued with fashion. Tyyan’s cousin was the first to introduce her to fashion and she loved it. Tyyan had a passion for fashion and with the inspiration and help of her family, she went on to fulfill her fashion dream. With the help of her grandma, Tyann wrote a book called “The Pinky Club,” which explains how she grew up and how she went from being afraid of taking a chance to standing out in her community. The book will be available in late May as a hardcopy and on Amazon. When asked about her success, Tyyan expressed that there were times in her life where she would be afraid to believe in herself and let herself down. Her motivation was to believe in her true self and to keep striving forward. She also gets motivation from her family and peers which is her biggest boost of confidence. Her key word for advice is “believe.” Tyyan said God is first. Believing allowed her to never give up. She inspires others to believe in themselves, put God first and to never believe that your dreams are never too big. Tyyan continues to move further into fashion and dreams of attending FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). This young lady is so talented and successful at such a young age. She designs and sketches all of her designs. She is extremely focused on her goals and has a really bright future ahead. Tyyan really inspired me. The things I took from this interview are when it seems like I’m down for the count, I will find the strength to pick myself up and keep moving forward. And to always believe that my dreams are never too big for the world. We must help other teens to believe in themselves, because the possibilities are endless. There will be doors of opportunities for anyone willing to walk through those doors and work hard. How awesome! See more information on Tyyan: Movie--A Teenage Love, story by Javis Hanks, amd “Ten Across the Board” fashion show.

Never let small minds convince you that your dreams are too big. Believe in you. Look in the mirror, you are a star.”

Pinky Sez designer Tyyan Williams, 13, walks down the runway after showcasing her collection at Small Boutique Fashion Week on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.
