Top 10 Urban Gospel - Mr. C.

Hello again DTM Universe! This is your boy Mr. C back at you with my Top Ten artists to watch out for. In addition, I am here to give some insight on some of the things that are happening in the world of Urban Gospel Music. Check out these artists: The first thing that I am excited to talk about is the most recent updates on contemporary worship artist Jake Hughes. His presence in this genre is growing. You may know him for songs such as “Get Up” and “I Lift My Hands.” He has been traveling and making more appearances this year. In fact, he was a finalist on the Prayze Factor People’s Choice Awards Platform this past September. With all of this momentum that he has, he is plowing full steam ahead to work on his album entitled “Jake Hughes Presents The Art Of War.” Elder Jake has every intention of making a heavy impact with this next project. In fact, he said the following: “The world and demonic systems are trying to turn up in this world. It’s time for the people of God to turn things up and go even higher and be a kingdom influence on a whole other level.” Be ready to support his cause and be looking out for this project. The Voices of Gospel Music Awards took place in Mobile, Alabama on September 9th and 10th. Some of the distinguished guests of this inaugural event were Rev. Luther Barnes, Earnest Pugh, Ted Winn, Greg O’Quinn, and Neece Trott. Rev. Gary D. Johnson desired that this event would be Christ centered, and eloquent. It appears that he delivered according to the feedback received. It is so great to hear that the body of Christ can understand that excellence is associated with the Gospel. Speaking of excellence, some of the winners at the VOGMA’s were Emanuelle Young (New Artist of the Year), 2 Is Better Than 1 (Youth Artists of the Year) , and a voice you need to be looking out for is BJ McKenzie (Male Vocalist of the Year), among others . There is already word thatt the organizers of this great event are working towards an even better success story for 2017. I will keep you posted on the developments of what evolves. I want to congratulate Dee Black, as his label “HISstory Music Group” is continuing to grow. Over the summer, there definitely was a buzz when he signed CHH veteran Mouthpiece. HMG took it a HUGE step further, and signed DJ Sean Blu, who will be the house DJ and artist for the label. I reached out to the CEO of HMG to ask him about his outlook and he said “HISstory Music Group is more than just a label. We will set the standard for lyrical excellence centered on the Gospel! Our mission is to glorify God through art and entertainment. We will create our own industry standards and do business with integrity, while following biblical principles.” I am eager to see what transpires as Dee Black leads this new, but great label into the future. Serious PPL Music Artist Serious Voice has released her new single and the video for the song “Mind Games,” featuring Caribbean Gospel Artist Marshall One. This is her 2nd single released from her album “Shofar,” and can be purchased on digital platforms such as iTunes and Google Play. If you would like to book Serious for appearances of any kind, feel free to visit www.soserious.net or connect with her label on Twitter @seriouspplmusic. Now, I am excited to talk about what I call “The Playoffs of Urban Gospel Music,” which is Mr. C’s 5th Annual Top 40 Countdown. Christian Hip Hop, Rhythm & Praise, Contemporary Worship, and Caribbean Gospel of great artists from all over the world will be put on a ballot. Your vote will count for this one and you will have a voice. This event will be held from December 28th - December 31st, and it will be revealed who had some of the hottest tracks for the year 2016. Keep up with the developments of this event by visiting facebook.com/livewithmrc and Twitter @mrc_live. Well, that is all I have for now. You never know what developments will surface next. I look forward to providing you with new updates about Gospel Music on the next go round. God bless you. DT
