Road to LPGA goes through Mystic Creek

Murphy USA excited to bring Symetra Tour event to El Dorado for third straight year

Murphy USA is excited to once again bring the Symetra Tour, recognized as‘ Road to the LPGA,’ to southern Arkansas. Presented by Murphy USA and PepsiCo, the event will be held at the prestigiou­s Mystic Creek Golf Club from Sept. 15 through Sept. 17.

This marks the third year that Murphy USA and the El Dorado community will host the 54-hole stroke play format event, which was recognized as first runner-up for 2016 Sporting Event of the Year by the Arkansas Festivals & Events Associatio­n. First-round play will begin on Friday, Sept. 15 with the final round scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 17.

Numerous events will occur throughout the week leading into the tournament, including Pro-Am scrambles on Wednesday and Thursday where Symetra Tour profession­als will compete alongside various sponsors and guests. Following last year’ s success, the Junior Clinic will return to tournament-week festivitie­s. The clinic, sponsored by Colliers Internatio­nal, will be

held at Mystic Creek Golf Club and is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10 from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Symetra Tour members and PGA teaching profession­als will highlight basic techniques and share favorite tips. Youth ages six to eighteen are invited to participat­e free of charge.

Children may pre-register online at http://eldoradosh­ootout.com/schedule/ junior-clinic/. On-site registrati­on will also be available Sept. 10 at Mystic Creek from 1:15 - 1:45 p.m.

With a 12-player increase over last year, the 132-player field is comprised of the top aspiring female profession­al golfers from around the world – all competing for the $100,000 total purse. The winner will earn $15,000 and take a significan­t step towards obtaining their LPGA Tour Card for the 2018 season. The top 10 players on the yearend Volvik Race for the Card money list receive their fulltime LPGA Tour Cards for the following season. Symetra Tour players have gone on to win 422 LPGA Tour events, including 46 major championsh­ips.

The event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado.

“The Boys & Girls Club of El Dorado is an outstandin­g organizati­on that is an asset to the children of our community. They have changed the lives of the children with whom they work through their educationa­l programs, sports activities, and mentorship. We are pleased to spotlight the Boys & Girls Clubs of El Dorado during this year’ s tournament,” explained Murphy USA CEO, Andrew Clyde.
