Road to LPGA goes through Mys­tic Creek

Mur­phy USA ex­cited to bring Symetra Tour event to El Do­rado for third straight year

Mur­phy USA is ex­cited to once again bring the Symetra Tour, rec­og­nized as‘ Road to the LPGA,’ to south­ern Arkansas. Pre­sented by Mur­phy USA and Pep­siCo, the event will be held at the pres­ti­gious Mys­tic Creek Golf Club from Sept. 15 through Sept. 17.

This marks the third year that Mur­phy USA and the El Do­rado com­mu­nity will host the 54-hole stroke play for­mat event, which was rec­og­nized as first run­ner-up for 2016 Sport­ing Event of the Year by the Arkansas Fes­ti­vals & Events As­so­ci­a­tion. First-round play will be­gin on Fri­day, Sept. 15 with the fi­nal round sched­uled for Sun­day, Sept. 17.

Nu­mer­ous events will oc­cur through­out the week lead­ing into the tour­na­ment, in­clud­ing Pro-Am scram­bles on Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day where Symetra Tour pro­fes­sion­als will com­pete along­side var­i­ous spon­sors and guests. Fol­low­ing last year’ s suc­cess, the Ju­nior Clinic will re­turn to tour­na­ment-week fes­tiv­i­ties. The clinic, spon­sored by Col­liers In­ter­na­tional, will be

held at Mys­tic Creek Golf Club and is sched­uled for Sun­day, Sept. 10 from 2 p.m. un­til 3:30 p.m. Symetra Tour mem­bers and PGA teach­ing pro­fes­sion­als will high­light ba­sic tech­niques and share fa­vorite tips. Youth ages six to eigh­teen are in­vited to par­tic­i­pate free of charge.

Chil­dren may pre-reg­is­ter on­line at http://el­do­ra­­ule/ ju­nior-clinic/. On-site reg­is­tra­tion will also be avail­able Sept. 10 at Mys­tic Creek from 1:15 - 1:45 p.m.

With a 12-player in­crease over last year, the 132-player field is com­prised of the top as­pir­ing fe­male pro­fes­sional golfers from around the world – all com­pet­ing for the $100,000 to­tal purse. The win­ner will earn $15,000 and take a sig­nif­i­cant step to­wards ob­tain­ing their LPGA Tour Card for the 2018 sea­son. The top 10 play­ers on the yearend Volvik Race for the Card money list re­ceive their full­time LPGA Tour Cards for the fol­low­ing sea­son. Symetra Tour play­ers have gone on to win 422 LPGA Tour events, in­clud­ing 46 ma­jor cham­pi­onships.

The event will ben­e­fit the Boys & Girls Club of El Do­rado.
