El Do­rado, area schools to open foot­ball prac­tice

The 2017 high school foot­ball sea­son kicks off to­day with the start of prac­tice. El Do­rado coach Scott Reed said the Wild­cats will take the field at 6 p.m. at the high school.

The Wild­cats, who ex­pect be­tween 90 to 95 ath­letes, will have some new faces on the coach­ing staff, in­clud­ing Cam­den Fairview na­tive and for­mer Arkansas Ra­zoback DeAn­thony Cur­tis, who will coach the out­side lineback­ers. Hal Qualls will coach the wide re­ceivers. Kris Borosvskis, for­merly El Do­rado's ninth grade coach, joined the se­nior var­sity staff as the tight ends coach.

El Do­rado, led by se­nior de­fen­sive tackle Terry Hamp­ton, who has ver­bally com­mit­ted to Arkansas State, is sched­uled to kick off the reg­u­lar sea­son Sept. 1 at Cam­den Fairview.

El Do­rado's fresh­men, who will be coached by Matthew Nash, be­gin prac­tice to­day at 3:30 p.m. at the high school.

Around Union County, Junc­tion City is sched­uled to prac­tice to­day from 8 a.m. un­til 11 a.m. Park­ers Chapel will prac­tice from 6 a.m. un­til 8 a.m. Smack­over plans to prac­tice from 7 a.m. un­til 11 a.m. And, Strong's prac­tice is from 4 p.m. un­til 6 p.m.
