PARK­ERS CHAPEL - Park­ers Chapel re­mained un­beaten in league play Mon­day with a 5-3 win over Har­mony Grove. The Lady Tro­jans im­proved to 11-6 over­all and 7-0 in con­fer­ence.

Park­ers Chapel scored four runs in the third, us­ing ag­gres­sive base run­ning and tak­ing ad­van­tage of a de­fen­sive mis­takes by the Lady Hor­nets.

Drue Thomas pitched seven in­nings, al­low­ing five hits with eight walks and three strike­outs. Only one of the three runs sur­ren­dered was earned.

"This was a step in the right di­rec­tion for us," said PC coach El­liot Ja­cobs. "What I'm most proud about, of­fen­sively, we didn't play our best and, pitch­ing-wise, we walked too many bat­ters. But, de­fen­sively ... we made the plays de­fen­sively to­day. That's what won us the game was our de­fense."

The Lady Hor­nets took a two-run lead with runs in the first and sec­ond. Park­ers Chapel took the lead with its four-run third in­ning. Both teams added a run in the fifth.

Kaylin Waller led the Lady Tro­jans at the plate, go­ing 3-for-3 with two dou­bles. Savannah Slaugh­ter and Kylie Jones drove in two runs apiece.

Park­ers Chapel re­turns to ac­tion Fri­day at Ri­son.
