NHS to induct new members on April 21
The annual National Honor Society (NHS) induction is coming up soon and it’s been raising questions in the student body on what it takes to become a member of NHS.
In order to become a member of NHS, the student must have at least a cumulative 3.5 grade point average to be selected to join during their sophomore year. The students induction is solely based on their GPA. NHS sponsor Katherine Mobbs gets the student grades from the guidance office, then gives the information to the students.
According to Mobbs, “NHS is a program to encourage enthusiasm for education and for scholarships, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.”
She continued, “Academic achievement and service to the community is important to me. When the previous club sponsor left, I volunteered to fill the , role.”
Students will be inducted at 6:30 p.m., on April 24 in the EHS auditorium.
