Vol­ley­ball Girls Look­ing For Rhythm, Vic­to­ries

A tough week of com­pe­ti­tion saw Escalon’s var­sity vol­ley­ball girls go 0-2, pick­ing up a cou­ple of games but un­able to win a match.

They were at Pit­man for a Tues­day, Sept. 1 con­test and lost by a 3-0 de­ci­sion to the host Pride. Escalon got stronger and played with more con­fi­dence as the match pro­gressed, but could never get past the Pit­man home court ad­van­tage and are still look­ing for just the right line up to put on the court. Scores were 10-25, 18-25, 20-25.

In a Thurs­day, Sept. 3 game host­ing Tracy, Escalon out­lasted the Bull­dogs in a 27-25 opener to the match, but then saw the visi­tors come back to win the match with three straight win­ning games, 14-25, 18-25, 14-25.

Oak­dale was sched­uled to travel to face Escalon on Tues­day, Sept. 8 af­ter The Times went to press and a busy pre­sea­son slate con­tin­ues for Escalon this week, with matches against St. Mary’s on the road Thurs­day, Sept. 10 and then the var­sity will play in the Golden Val­ley Tour­na­ment on Fri­day and Satur­day, the JV team goes to the Oak­dale Tour­na­ment on Satur­day, Sept. 12.
