PAVE THE WAY
Crews continue to make steady progress on the First Street project, with paving work now being done and the end in sight for the detours around the location. The First Street Reconstruction Project included rehabilitation of an estimated 1,300 feet of First Street, from just west of the railroad tracks at McHenry Avenue to the west side of the Oklahoma Avenue intersection. Removal of existing pavement and concrete, removal and replacement of storm drain inlets, installation of curb, gutter and sidewalk, striping and asphalt concrete pavement installation was all part of the project. Originally expected to be done before school started in August, the work was delayed when PG&E also had to some replacement of pipeline in the area but is now winding down.
