Crews con­tinue to make steady progress on the First Street pro­ject, with paving work now be­ing done and the end in sight for the de­tours around the lo­ca­tion. The First Street Re­con­struc­tion Pro­ject in­cluded re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of an es­ti­mated 1,300 feet of First Street, from just west of the rail­road tracks at McHenry Av­enue to the west side of the Ok­la­homa Av­enue in­ter­sec­tion. Re­moval of ex­ist­ing pave­ment and con­crete, re­moval and re­place­ment of storm drain in­lets, in­stal­la­tion of curb, gut­ter and side­walk, strip­ing and as­phalt con­crete pave­ment in­stal­la­tion was all part of the pro­ject. Orig­i­nally ex­pected to be done be­fore school started in Au­gust, the work was de­layed when PG&E also had to some re­place­ment of pipeline in the area but is now wind­ing down.
