Plea Nets Eight Months In Jail For DaSilva

An Escalon man who pleaded no con­test in con­nec­tion with a crash that claimed two lives in June, 2014 has been sen­tenced to eight months in county jail and put on three years’ pro­ba­tion.

Paul A. DaSilva, 42, was sen­tenced last week af­ter en­ter­ing the no con­test plea last July. He be­gan serv­ing his sen­tence in the Stanis­laus County Jail on Tues­day, Jan. 17.

Au­thor­i­ties said DaSilva was the driver of a ve­hi­cle that ran a red light and was speed­ing on Dale Road when it crashed into a mini­van near the Kaiser Med­i­cal Cen­ter on June 16, 2014. A 12-year-old girl and a 47-year-old man were killed in the crash while a 14-yearold boy had ma­jor in­juries.

DaSilva en­tered the ‘no con­test’ plea to two counts of ve­hic­u­lar man­slaugh­ter in the case.
