Get your tick­ets now for the Re­lay For Life Tri-Tip Din­ner for Four, sched­uled at the Saron Lutheran Church on Satur­day, March 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Team Nuts For Life is host­ing this event, which fea­tures ‘curb­side ser­vice’ with de­liv­ery of the full meal to your car; just present your ticket as you en­ter the church park­ing lot and the meal will be de­liv­ered. Cost is $40 and that in­cludes a whole BBQ tri-tip, four baked pota­toes, a bag of salad, loaf of French bread and a two-liter bot­tle of soda. ***** On Satur­day, Feb. 18 an Acous­tic Gui­tar Work­shop will be hosted from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Venue at Big Val­ley Grace Com­mu­nity Church, 4040 Tully Road, Modesto. Acous­tic gui­tar play­ers of all ages and skill lev­els will pick up some use­ful tips and se­crets in this work­shop. Chil­dren un­der 12 must be ac­com­pa­nied by a par­ent/guardian. There is no cost to at­tend; reg­is­ter by Feb. 17 at big­val­ley­grace.org/acous­tic­work­shop.

***** Don’t for­get to stop by and join in at the Escalon Li­brary, 1540 Sec­ond St., each Tues­day evening for the new Adult Col­or­ing Club. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. and the free Col­or­ing Club is open to all adults;

bring your own ma­te­ri­als or use the ones they have at the li­brary. Col­or­ing is calm­ing, and pos­i­tive feel­ings are in­creased as you re­lax and fo­cus all your en­ergy on col­or­ing. The pro­gram is pro­vided through the Friends of the Escalon Li­brary.

***** Join­ing the Ar­bor Day Foun­da­tion is an ideal way to get in the mood for spring plant­ing. Any­one who joins the Foun­da­tion in Fe­bru­ary 2017 will re­ceive 10 free Colorado blue spruce trees or 10 free red­bud trees to plant when the weather turns warm. The free trees are part of the non­profit Foun­da­tion’s Trees for Amer­ica cam­paign. To be­come a mem­ber of the Foun­da­tion and re­ceive the free trees, send a $10 con­tri­bu­tion to Ten Free Colorado Blue Spruce Trees or Ten Free East­ern Red­bud Trees, Ar­bor Day Foun­da­tion, 100 Ar­bor Ave., Ne­braska City, NE 68410, by Feb. 28, 2017, or visit ar­bor­day.org/fe­bru­ary.

***** River­bank wel­comes the REO Speech­train Toast­mas­ters Club for reg­u­lar meet­ings ev­ery Wed­nes­day morn­ing, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Pat­ter­son and Oak­dale roads, River­bank. This is a fun way to learn the self-con­fi­dence and skills needed for pub­lic speak­ing. All are in­vited to come and check out the group. The next meet­ing will be Wed­nes­day, Feb. 22. ***** Com­ing up in late April, it’s the eighth an­nual Ride The Rails For Re­lay, on the Niles Canyon Rail­way, with three dif­fer­ent de­par­ture times avail­able. The train leaves from Sunol De­pot, 6 Kilkare Road, Sunol at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., with live en­ter­tain­ment on the train with free wine tast­ing and snacks and bev­er­ages avail­able for pur­chase. You can also bring a pic­nic to eat on the train or in the park. Trains are hand­i­cap and wheel­chair ac­ces­si­ble. Tick­ets are valid for the trip on Satur­day, April 29. Cost for tick­ets is $25 for adults, chil­dren 2 to 12 $15 and un­der 2 ride for free. Trains run in all weather; train and crew do­nated by Niles Canyon Rail­way. ***** Get your tick­ets early for the up­com­ing Film ‘Fun’ Raiser for DKG Ep­silon Nu Chap­ter. The event is sched­uled for April 27 at the State The­atre, 1307 J St., down­town Modesto. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. on film day for wine, ap­pe­tiz­ers and raf­fle draw­ings. The movie ‘Some Like It Hot’ will be shown start­ing at 7 p.m.
