LOUIS JOSEPH IMFELD Feb. 14, 1918 – March 23, 2017
Louie Imfeld, long time Escalon resident, entered his rest on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the age of 99. Born Louis Joseph Imfeld to Joe and Emilie Imfeld, immigrants from Sarnen, Switzerland and Giswil, Switzerland, was born February 14, 1918, Holtville, CA. The oldest of three (sister Erna Baum of Hayward, deceased, and brother Joe Imfeld, Castro Valley, deceased) Louie grew up in Imperial Valley on a small family dairy. He met the love of his life, Mariana Burch at an Imperial Valley Swiss Club dance. They were married May 2, 1943 and spent nearly (short one month) 71 years together as Mr. and Mrs. Their son Robert was born November 27, 1945.
Mariana passed away April 10, 2014. Grandpa Louie, as we fondly called him, loved his San Francisco Giants, spending many hours listening to games on the radio and later watching on TV. They were always the best when they won, but when they lost, they weren’t worth a “damn” and over paid!!! He also loved to fish and spent many hours trolling the lake to the detriment of anyone along for the ride… “It is almost breakfast and they will get hungry soon.” Or, “got to be hungry now, it is lunch time.” And even later, “Dinner time. Come on fish!” The BIG ONE was always just around the next corner… He had a big heart, loved his family, and never missed a grandchild’s ball game, concert, or play. He leaves behind son Robert Imfeld (Marge), grandchildren Heidi (Kevin) Hawes, Hans (Cheryl) Imfeld, Andrea Imfeld, Trudie (Matt) Silva and Emilie (Louie) Bouma. He also has nine great grandchildren.
