Sus­pect Sought In Van­dal­ism

There have been sev­eral cases of graf­fiti/van­dal­ism within the past week in Escalon, and lo­cal po­lice are ask­ing for the pub­lic’s help in track­ing down the sus­pect.

“We have taken re­ports on Septem­ber 23, 2017 in the 1600 block of Sec­ond Street, and 1700 block of Main Street,” said Po­lice Chief Mike Borges.

Ad­di­tional calls were re­ported over this past week­end and ear­lier in­ci­dents oc­curred in the 1400 block of Main and 1800 block of Co­ley.

“We be­lieve one sub­ject is re­spon­si­ble for these and other van­dal­ism that has oc­curred in the city that is un­re­ported,” said Borges.

The depart­ment now has video ob­tained from a lo­cal busi­ness of the per­son be­lieved re­spon­si­ble and are seek­ing the pub­lic’s as­sis­tance in iden­ti­fy­ing the sus­pect.

“It is be­lieve he has caused over a thou­sand dol­lars in dam­ages,” Borges said.

The sus­pect ap­pears to be ei­ther a His­panic or White male adult with long dark hair in a pony­tail, wear­ing bag­gie cloth­ing and pos­si­bly white and black sneak­ers. The graf­fiti con­sists of orange and at times black paint, with the word “CORN.”
