Just 2.2% of ado­les­cents meet or ex­ceed the rec­om­mended amount of sleep for their age group—an av­er­age of nine hours per day for kids 11 to 13 years old and eight hours for those 14 to 17. On top of that, the same study also found that kids who av­er­aged less than seven hours had more body fat, higher blood pres­sure and worse choles­terol lev­els.
