Daniel De­fense re­designed the ge­om­e­try of the bolt car­rier group, made the cam pin larger and im­proved the cam pin path in the car­rier to en­sure smooth, re­li­able feed­ing. The bolt is ma­chined from ex­tra-hard 9310 VIM-VAR steel and is cov­ered with a pro­pri­etary low-fric­tion, cor­ro­sion-re­sis­tant coat­ing for added pro­tec­tion and smooth oper­a­tion. It also makes the whole thing much eas­ier to clean (which I for­tu­nately never had to: The Daniel De­fense crew took full care of main­tain­ing the weapons). The front of the bolt fea­tures twin ejec­tors for bet­ter feed­ing and ex­trac­tion. In ad­di­tion, a big­ger, stronger spring than found in a typ­i­cal AR-10 is used to power the ex­trac­tor.

The am­bidex­trous charg­ing han­dle doesn’t have a tra­di­tional catch that en­gages the up­per re­ceiver; it relies in­stead on a ball-bear­ing de­tent that takes less space. The han­dle is con­sid­ered “mod­u­lar” and
