with some of the best people in the world and the world is a little sadder place without many of them in it. I don’t personally believe that people should know the full extent of our experiences from war because that defeats the purpose of protecting them from it.

As for the transition back, [I ask for] patience and knowledge that these people have had hardships a little different than the common person’s. Don’t look at or treat them like anything other than another person. Don’t ask a bunch of questions, but let it be known that you will listen if asked.

CT: What does the future hold for Blackguard Customs? What projects do you have in store, and where do you want to the see the company go in the next few years?

LF: This is an interesting question because we have started to make moves toward our next objective. We plan on building a new and larger shop, adding equipment to help us scale up fabrication as well as add to the services we offer. We are also working on a few more charity items for the year to include some new Damascus steel work that we haven’t done in the past. It’s our hope that by mid-2018 we will be in the new location with a staff of at least 6 working on the fabrication shop floor.

We are also considering doing more ornamental and structural natural art for businesses and properties. It’s my personal hope to start working with other smiths and artists and start hosting crafting and educational events geared towards veterans and their families. Like anything else, you get what you pay for. In the case of Blackguard Customs, Fuller’s work is not inexpensive. However, especially in the case of his tribute items, putting a price on his handcrafted work that embodies the memories and tribute intent of survivor families is impossible. Blackguard’s customized work ranges from ornate Manspot-branded belt buckles and accessories, to artistic yet 100% functional fighting tomahawks, to custom kitchen cutlery.

Functional artistry— each custom piece from Blackguard Customs is just as at home in a shadow box as out in the field. No museum props here.

Refined savagery— Fuller artfully juxtaposes a beautiful satin finish and rough-hewn forging on this beautiful blade.
